Ye Olde Mitre

Pubs - London   EC1N6SJ

The Ye Olde Mitre pub, built in 1546 for the servants of the Bishops of Ely, is a historic establishment that has been serving patrons since the 16th century. The pub is famous for having a cherry tree that Queen Elizabeth once danced around with Sir Christopher Hatton.

The pub is located in a part of London steeped in history, near where William Wallace was hung, drawn, and quartered at Smithfield, along with martyrs and traitors who were also killed nearby.

The pub’s current building dates back to the 18th century and features extensive wood panelling in the two bars and the snug, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Ye Olde Mitre has been featured in a number of films, including Snatch, and is owned by Fuller’s. The pub has a reasonable beer selection and serves an assortment of bar snacks and toasted sandwiches. They also serve real ale and real cider, and usually have a beer from the wood.

The pub’s small function room upstairs is perfect for special occasions and the friendly staff will make sure you have a memorable experience. Come and experience the warm and inviting atmosphere of Ye Olde Mitre, where you can enjoy a drink and some delicious bar snacks in a cozy and historic setting.
