The Harp
Pubs - London WC2N4HS
The Harp is a quintessential British pub that stands out from the crowd. Unlike many other central London pubs, The Harp doesn't focus on food. Instead, it celebrates the very essence of a traditional British pub: drinking. Located near Charing Cross station, this relatively small venue boasts gorgeous stained glass windows and 10 hand-pumps that serve guest brews, ciders, and perries from around the country.
In 2010, The Harp became the first London pub to win the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) National Pub of the Year competition, and it has continued to win the West London CAMRA Award every year since 2006². It's no surprise that The Harp has become a beloved institution among locals and tourists alike.
Despite its popularity, The Harp maintains an intimate atmosphere and a genuine London buzz. On warm summer evenings, thirsty revellers, including many office workers with loosened ties, spill out onto the pavement, creating a vibrant scene in the heart of the city. It's no wonder that The Harp draws in many passers-by looking to sample those good times.
It's important to note that all pub opinions are subjective, and while some people may not appreciate The Harp's unique charm, I've yet to meet anyone who didn't shout its virtues from the rooftops. For such a little treasure on the corner of Trafalgar Square, this is the most ringing of endorsements.
